Any time a soundtrack from the gospel hip hop movement "The Storytellas" is played, it becomes a totally different listening experience from the original CD. The first thing that happens is that it moves out of the genre called Gospel Rap/Holy Hip Hop into whatever you want to call it. The 'Tellas musical concept & direction came from 30+ years of musical influences including gospel, jazz, soul, latin and classical...fused to make what I called Hip Bop.
The amazing thing upon listening to these soundtracks, in addition to the incredible performances of real live musicians, is how they can stand on their own as instrumentals. With the advent of atmospheric music, heard on satellite radio stations like "Chill" and "Spa", there may be a place for these soundtracks in your car or ipod as you drive, commute or exercise, with little demand for attention to be given to lyric. The initial uploads are coming from the Strong As Death album. I'm especially proud of these productions because of the opportunity to collaborate with DJ Frankie Cutlass. There was something very special happening in that Tenafly studio in New Jersey back in the late 90's. You'll hear it for sure. More information will be released with every upload. But for now, listen and be inspired to do whatever it is you're doing while you listen.
